Creative Arts (Music, Drama, Art), Play and Talking Therapists/Counsellors

Salary: £200 - £225 per day, based on skills and experience

5 available days across The Inclusive Education Trust (Ashford, Reigate and Guildford)

We are seeking to appoint inspirational and committed therapists/counsellors on a contract for services basis, to join our Therapeutic Team as part of an exciting pilot outreach programme working with partner primary schools across Key Stages 1 and 2. The location and operational area for the roles will be allocated and based within the four Surrey quadrants.

This pilot project is designed to strengthen early intervention and inclusive practice, supporting children with emerging Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), behavioural, and pastoral needs. The role will contribute to reducing barriers to learning, improving engagement, and preventing escalation to more intensive provision and risk of permanent exclusion.

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced or newly qualified HCPC, BACP or any equivalent registered creative arts, play and talking therapists to join a growing service.

You will initially provide therapeutic interventions via a contract for services (self-employed basis). Depending upon the success of this project there may be opportunities to move to permanent status in the longer term.

The successful candidate will have a passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve potential. They will have experience of working therapeutically with children and young people, a good all-round knowledge of supporting the mental health of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, excellent organisational skills and a good sense of humour. A car and appropriate insurance are essential for this role.

The Ideal Candidate
  • An outstanding therapist/counsellor with high expectations of pupils’ achievement and behaviour who is committed to providing high quality therapeutic support.
  • Able to maintain and drive forward outstanding standards whilst meeting the needs of a very vulnerable group of students.
  • An excellent communicator who is able to work inclusively with students, staff, parents and external professionals.
  • Excellent with verbal and written communication, hold exceptional interpersonal skills and be efficient and accountable in terms of record management.
  • Passionate about inclusion, supporting all students to gain an inspirational education both academically and pastorally.

If you have successful experience, a strong commitment to inclusive values, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to strengthen partnerships, are ambitious to make a difference to the lives of young people and play a significant role in our exciting journey we would like to hear from you.

If you would like further information, please contact the Head of Therapeutic Services - details can be found on the application page.

The closing date for applications is Friday 30th January 2026 at 9am.

Please note: We will be shortlisting and interviewing as applications are received, so early applications are encouraged. The role may close early if the right candidate is found.
