Therapeutic Coach (Residential Care)

£25,552.00 - £29,373.00 per annum, plus a sleep-in allowance of £75 per occurrence and 28 days annual leave increasing with length of service.

Birribi provides residential care and education, meeting the therapeutic needs of children and young people with a variety of complex needs.

We were established to offer care provision in a safe, structured, stable and warm environment for children in West Wales. We offer opportunities for young people to have positive experiences, meet achievable challenges and progress towards positive futures through solution focused interventions.

We aspire to staff our homes with experienced, dedicated, and skilled staff, however, we at Birribi understand that you must start your career somewhere and if you can demonstrate knowledge and skills that are transferable then we would also welcome an application.

We provide an extensive training package which as you progress will also include accredited therapeutic qualifications. You will also benefit from a competitive entry level salary of £25,552
plus a sleep-in duty payment of £75 per occurrence.

This role operates on a shift basis, including sleep-in duties and weekend working, averaging 39 hours per week.

We understand that care work is demanding and have designed our shift pattern to offer staff generous rest periods between shifts. Shift working also allows our teams to know their shifts up to six months in advance.

The Role
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children/young people in the company’s care and ensure that the quality of care provided is consistent with all standards, regulations, and legislation.
  • Provide a responsive and high-quality service to users, their families and our partners based on an assessment of need, which is regularly reviewed, and is outcome driven.
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with children and young people and their families and where necessary, to encourage and promote involvement to achieve positive outcomes.
  • To work with firm and consistent boundaries to create a safe environment for children/young people and the staff team.
The Person
  • To be able to engage with a range of young people with a variety of needs, to build up an effective relationship.
  • An understanding of the benefits of working with others in a community based and social environment.
  • Be able to work with unconditional positive regard with each of our young people and accepting behaviour as a form of communication.
  • Have the ability to not tell people what to think, rather to create opportunities for understanding to grow develop and emerge.
  • Can use daily living as an opportunity for learning.
  • Must have the ability to work within and maintain boundaries.
