Band 5 Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse – Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Permanent full‑time position.

Job Overview

Provide skilled scrub support for elective and trauma orthopaedic procedures, ensuring safe, high‑quality perioperative care. Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to maintain a sterile field and support smooth theatre flow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, check, and manage instruments, equipment, and implants required for surgery.
  • Support surgical counts, respond to intra‑operative changes, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and postoperative processes as required.
  • Set up and close down theatres, ensuring equipment is cleaned, checked, and restocked.
  • Contribute to junior colleague and student development and engage in service improvement initiatives.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Post‑registration experience in theatres.
  • Understanding of aseptic technique, infection prevention, and effective communication.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records.
Desirable
  • Orthopaedic scrub experience with trauma and elective procedures.
