Job description
Overview

A Vacancy at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust. We are currently looking to recruit a Theatre / Anaesthetic Practitioner to join our Day Surgery theatre team. We cover a wide range of specialties including oral, ENT, gynaecological, urological, orthopaedic, ophthalmic, general surgery, bronchoscopy and a pain service. We offer a busy, exciting work environment and are committed to the support and training of our staff, with development opportunities within the role. Please note that online interviews will not be available for this vacancy; shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an in-person interview.

Our Day Surgery Unit comprises 4 operating theatres, a minor procedure room and a recovery area. We may require work in other areas of the Trust such as Main Theatre, A&E, Endoscopy, Delivery Suite and X-Ray on occasions.

There is a chance to be involved in a major digital transformation project as we implement a new electronic patient record (EPR) from 2026 to replace paper-based records, aiming to improve safety and continuity of care.

We serve around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, North Cambs and South Lincs. The Trust values kindness, wellness and fairness and is committed to continuous quality improvement, with recognised learning and apprenticeships. We employ around 4,000 staff and volunteers and operate across 530 beds in 33 wards with modern facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team providing assistance and service in all aspects of the Operating Department (theatre, anaesthetic and recovery areas).
  • Be prepared to work in other areas of the Trust as required (e.g., Main Theatre, A&E, Endoscopy, Delivery Suite, X-Ray).
  • Maintain good communication and enhance effective working relationships throughout the department.
  • Interpret and respond appropriately to direction from other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure records of patient care, drugs, specimens and implants are accurately and fully maintained, with effective transfer of information.
Qualifications and Candidate Profile
  • We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals, preferably with experience in a day surgery theatre environment and excellent communication skills.
  • Forward-thinking, well-organised with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change.
  • Exceptional, newly qualified staff will also be considered.
