A public safety organization in Reading is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a critical system replacement project for fire control services. This role involves planning and executing project delivery, managing key stakeholder relationships, and applying best practice methodologies. The Project Manager will have a significant impact on service delivery across multiple fire and rescue services, ensuring effective change management and tracking of project benefits.
Benefits:
Salary: £46,142 – £51,356 per annum, Grade 6
Hours: Full Time – 37 hours per week
Contract: 24-month fixed term contract
Location – Onsite at Service Headquarters, Calcot, Reading, with travel to other Thames Valley sites and other Services as required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join the Business Information and Systems team within Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS).
As a blue light service dedicated to ensuring the safety and well‑being of our community, we are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to lead the delivery of a business‑critical system replacement. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our operations and contribute to the enhancement of our service delivery.
Supporting Royal Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Services, Thames Valley Fire Control has been operationally live since 2015. The technology currently used to mobilise fire and rescue resources will be refreshed and the appointed Project Manager will lead this project through to successful delivery.
As the Project Manager, you will work at an enterprise level and create plans to implement safely. You will be responsible for delivering change, aligned to strategy, tracking delivery of the project, ensuring risks, issues and dependencies are identified and managed.
You will create a project team structure that fosters effective working relationships and establish strong relationships with stakeholders across the three Services. Your project will directly impact the three Services and the communities they serve, so establishing strong connections is critical to its success.
Working collaboratively, you will adopt best practice methodologies and use your skills to aid project scoping, planning, design, and delivery.
You will champion and adapt industry best practice to meet our specific needs, strengthening our approach to change and growing the project management capability within the Service, by proactively promoting best practice and sharing knowledge with key stakeholders. You’ll help the organisation understand complex problems and provide data and analysis to enable robust decision making and optimum ways of working.
