Job summary

Pay and Hours

Shift Leader rate starts from £14.76 an hour; increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.

Minimum 16 guaranteed hours per week. Flexible to 12 hours if desired.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a fast‑paced retail environment, with bags of variety.
  • Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
  • Be there for customers, listening to them and ensuring they leave satisfied.
  • Look for ways to improve service, including coaching and giving feedback.
  • Guide and support colleagues in store, keeping it safe for work and shop.
  • Maintain understanding of store performance and assist managers in actions that improve running.
  • Lead from the front, setting a great example for colleagues.
  • Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience for customers.
  • Supporting your colleagues, ensuring they deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks.
  • Opening and closing the store, and completing duty cover.
  • Being the go‑to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager for day‑to‑day queries.
  • Making sure the store is always clean, tidy and well presented.
  • Supporting managers to coordinate seasonal, community and charity events.
  • Providing great customer service, listening and putting customers first.
  • Keeping the team well‑informed and up to speed on communications, changes or updates.
  • Staying knowledgeable about store performance and looking for ways to improve and simplify operations.
  • Coordinating store improvements, removing obstacles to great service.
  • Following health and safety routines and procedures, ensuring colleagues do the same.
  • Recognising and celebrating colleagues providing great service.
Eligibility

Applicants must be 18 or over.

Applicants must have passed school leaver’s age. Over 18 required if role involves early/late hours or certain areas.
