The Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 per hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.

It is our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week; roles with a minimum of 12 hours are also available.

We will schedule your contracted hours within the advertised availability, with 3 weeks notice of shifts. We aim to support flexibility, and if your availability matches closely but not exactly, we would still love to hear from you.

As a Shift Leader, you will support store operations, help customers, and oversee the store to ensure smooth daily running, delivering a positive experience for customers, colleagues and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety.
  • Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
  • Be available for customers, listening to them and helping them leave with what they came for.
  • Coaching colleagues and giving feedback to the team to improve service.
  • Guide and support colleagues in-store to keep it a safe place to work and shop.
  • Maintain understanding of store performance and assist managers in improving operations.
  • Lead from the front and set a positive example for colleagues.

You will be responsible for

  • Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience for customers.
  • Supporting colleagues to deliver daily priorities and regular breaks.
  • Opening and closing the store and completing duty cover, ensuring safety in decisions.
  • Being the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager for day-to-day queries.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-presented store.
  • Supporting managers with seasonal, community and charity events.
  • Contributing to a great, inclusive team atmosphere.
  • Providing great customer service by listening to customers and putting them first.
  • Keeping the team informed on communications and updates.
  • Staying knowledgeable about store performance and identifying improvements.
  • Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to great service.
  • Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same.
  • Recognising colleagues who provide great service.
