Job description
Overview

We are looking for a team player to join our lab to help us finish a project on understanding the fundamental molecular and cellular changes of the testis with ageing, which may underpin increased morbidity in the offspring of older fathers. The job would suit someone who would be willing to work part-time 2 days per week until September and full-time, 5 days a week, from September until end of April. You would be joining a dynamic, small team based at the Bateson Centre, in Firth Court, at the University of Sheffield. The PI is committed to their staff career development and this technician position could be a good starting point for a candidate wanting to pursue a PhD.

Responsibilities
  • Perform duties as part of a small team within the lab focusing on the project about ageing-related molecular and cellular changes in the testis.
  • Work with Zebrafish as a model organism and contribute to experimental planning and execution.
  • Contribute to histology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, microscopy imaging, and related image acquisition/analysis.
  • Assist with basic image analysis, with preference for candidates having ImageJ experience. Prior adult zebrafish histology experience is advantageous.
  • Maintain a productive and safe laboratory environment and support staff development when appropriate.
