Technical Sales Engineer

Telford

We are recruiting an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business that delivers end-to-end engineering solutions across the food sector and other regulated industries. The organisation provides a full in‑house service, including CAD design, sheet metal fabrication, conveyor solutions, structural steelwork, laser cutting, site installation, and ongoing machine maintenance. This role will suit a technically strong, commercially minded individual who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, solutions‑led environment. Using a consultative sales approach, the successful candidate will manage incoming enquiries, develop new business opportunities, and take ownership of the sales process from initial contact through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and respond to incoming enquiries from an established customer base
  • Understand customer requirements and propose standard and bespoke engineering solutions
  • Proactively source and develop new business opportunities
  • Prepare and issue accurate quotations for laser cutting, fabrication, and installation work
  • Manage the sales process from quotation through to order completion, resolving any issues along the way
  • Follow up on enquiries and quotations to maximise conversion
  • Close sales and contribute to ongoing revenue growth
  • Build and maintain strong, long‑term customer relationships
  • Represent the business professionally at all times
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in technical sales within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Strong background in sheet metal, stainless steel fabrication, and mechanical handling
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Competent using a variety of measuring equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Customer-focused mindset with a consultative approach
  • Experience within the food industry is highly advantageous but not essential
