Job summary

A leading defence organisation in the UK is seeking a Technical Project Manager to oversee complex IT projects. You will manage multiple projects, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders and adherence to timelines. The ideal candidate has experience in project management methodologies like Prince 2 and AGILE, along with a strong technical background, particularly in Microsoft technologies. Overview

A fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team as a Technical Project Manager, ensuring that MBDA can continue to drive forwards with the latest technologies.

Salary: Circa £65,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: Varying number of days per week on-site dependent upon workload classification

Security Clearance: UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo the HMG Security Check process (SC), which is managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team. Please note that DV clearance may be required for this role.

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity in a fast moving, unique, multi-national function developing and leading complex I.T. projects and solutions. The successful candidate will be driving forward the definition & delivery of national & multi-national activities, collaborating with our Customers and Suppliers to the mutual benefit of all. We are looking for someone with a sound technical background to run multiple projects at once, acting as the pivotal point of contact from a technical and governance perspective. The projects will vary in size and technical complexity.

What we're looking for from you

Project Management Qualities

  • Qualified and experienced in Project management methodologies such as Prince 2, AGILE. A working knowledge of ITIL would be an advantage
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to run multiple projects simultaneously
  • The ability to manage numerous stakeholders of varying seniority, familiarity with standard reporting processes to keep management abreast of project status
  • Successfully lead a project team, from inception (Business Requirements) to completion (Acceptance Into Service / Lessons learnt) and at all times keeping to schedule, quality and cost
  • Identify the management of risks, issues, problems and their mitigations & remediation throughout the life cycle of the project
  • Be able to work in National and International teams, have understanding of cultural difference and their impact on Business, solutions and projects
Technical Skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of building, deploying, and Microsoft technologies including but not limited to: Windows Client, Microsoft Office, Windows Server & Active Directory
  • Good understanding of Cloud Services such as Microsoft Azure (or equivalent) & integration into on premise solutions
  • Experience with managing applying patches, updates and security controls to maintain a secure environment and system integrity
  • Familiar with deployment strategies such as big-bang, deployment rings, canary
  • Strong analytical skills, applying a methodical data-driven approach
  • Understanding of best practices working in a high security, multiple network environment typical in the defence industry
  • Knowledge of Powershell or other scripting technologies and tools in order to automate routine tasks
  • Able to produce and maintain technical documentation, including roadmaps, to a high standard
