Technical Operations Analyst – Need Trading Industry Experience, London, UK

A proprietary trading firm with three offices in Chicago, London, and New York City is seeking a talented and self-motivated Technical Operations Analyst to join its growing technology team in London. The successful candidate will bring a passion for all things systems-related, from hardware and networking through to software build, deployment, automation and tooling. The opportunity is part of a globally distributed team responsible for supporting our low-latency electronic trading systems and will include interactions with all functional areas within the firm. The company emphasizes teamwork and continuous integration and test-driven development. The company will relocate candidates.

Responsibilities

• Support low-latency electronic trading systems as part of a globally distributed technology team.
• Work across hardware, networking, software build, deployment, automation and tooling.
• Collaborate with developers, quants and traders to improve operational stability and functionality of trading systems.
• Coordinate, plan and execute firm-wide changes within a global change management framework.
• Triage, prioritize and troubleshoot complex network and systems issues, from hardware to in-house applications.
• Apply knowledge of networking concepts (DNS, TCP, UDP, etc.) to support trading infrastructure.
• Contribute to continual improvements through process and tool development and strong communication across teams.

Qualifications

• BA degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science or similar technical field preferred.
• Strong understanding of Linux.
• Experience building process management and monitoring toolkits using scripting languages (Python preferred).
• Experience working with development to improve the operational stability and functionality of existing and new trading systems.
• Experience configuring and managing low-latency, high-availability trading systems, working closely with developers, quants and traders.
• Experience coordinating, planning, and executing firm-wide changes within a global change management framework.
• Ability to triage, prioritize and troubleshoot complex network and systems issues, ranging from low-level hardware to in-house software applications.
• Understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, TCP, UDP, etc.
• High level of initiative with the ability to quickly build trust with trading and technology teams.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
