A fresh produce supplier based in Maidstone is seeking a hands-on Technical Manager to oversee quality control operations and manage product specifications. You'll be responsible for supporting the QC team, conducting audits, and collaborating with multiple departments to ensure compliance and high standards. Responsibilities

  • Support packhouse QC operations, covering Quality Manager tasks.
  • Maintain product specifications and due diligence documentation.
  • Produce and manage customer reports and non-conformance updates.
  • Conduct site audits and manage internal quality issues.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Commercial, and Procurement teams.
  • Liaise with customers on product performance.

Skills

Are you a hands‑on Technical professional ready to make an impact across a busy Fresh Produce site? Join a dynamic, fast‑paced business delivering Fresh Produce to retail customers, where you will support multiple areas of the technical function, from QC and compliance to managing customer specifications and reporting. This is a unique opportunity to develop your career towards senior technical leadership while working across the business.

Technical Manager Key Responsibilities
  • Support packhouse QC operations, covering Quality Manager tasks when required
  • Maintain product specifications, supplier approvals, and due diligence documentation
  • Produce and manage customer reports, benchmarking insights, and non‑conformance updates
  • Conduct site audits, GMP checks, inductions, and manage internal quality issues
  • Collaborate across Quality, Commercial, and Procurement teams to maintain high standards
  • Liaise with customers on product performance or escalated technical matters
Technical Manager Key Requirements
  • Experience in Fresh Produce technical or quality roles (fruit and vegetables)
  • Knowledge of Food Safety, QMS, BRCGS, and customer specifications
  • Practical, hands‑on, and confident working across multiple functions
  • Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and able to prioritise in a fast‑paced environment
  • Open to training and developing further in a multi‑functional role
  • Spanish language desirable
  • Driving Licence required

Hours & Working Environment

Flexibility is required to respond to the needs of the business and ensure high standards are maintained.
