Technical Lecturer - Electrical Installation

Role: Technical Lecturer - Electrical Installation

Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE, up to £10,000 market supplement, 45 days annual leave plus bank holidays, teacher's pension, retail & leisure discounts, professional development, access to college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

This is a UK based contract and you are required to have the Right to Work in the UK. No sponsorship.

About the role: We are currently seeking a Technical Lecturer in Electrical Installation to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching & Assessment – Plan, deliver and assess practical and theoretical learning across construction-related courses, ensuring high-quality, industry-informed education.
  • Student Support & Progress – Guide and mentor students, monitor progress and provide tutorials and pastoral care.
  • Curriculum Development – Contribute to schemes of work, integrate industry relevance and support vocational and employer-linked opportunities.
  • Collaboration & Quality – Work with colleagues on continuous improvement, participate in meetings and implement quality assurance processes.
  • Compliance & College Engagement – Uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety standards; support open days, exams and college-wide initiatives.

About you:

  • Essential Qualifications – GCSE Maths and English, plus a minimum Level 3 qualification in the specialist subject area.
  • Professional Development Commitment – Willingness to achieve TAQA Level 3, PTTLS Level 3, and PGCE or Cert Ed.
  • Industry & Subject Expertise – Recent relevant industry experience, strong understanding of vocational skills.
