Overview

The Flavour Network are currently recruiting a Technical Assistant to support the Technical function within a well-established food manufacturing business operating across two sites in Leicester. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career within food safety and technical management in a fast-paced production environment.

As Technical Assistant, you will work closely with the Technical Manager. The successful candidate will provide hands‑on support across both high care and low care areas, helping to ensure all food safety, quality and compliance standards are consistently met.

Responsibilities
  • Support the maintenance of the Food Safety Management System in line with BRCGS requirements
  • Assist with the day‑to‑day operation of HACCP, allergen controls and quality procedures
  • Carry out document control, record checks and verification activities
  • Conduct routine factory inspections across high care and low care environments
  • Monitor GMP, personal hygiene, cleaning standards, zoning and segregation
  • Report non‑conformances and support corrective and preventative actions
  • Assist with internal, customer and BRC audits, including preparation of evidence and documentation
  • Support closure of audit actions and updating of technical procedures
  • Assist with technical approval of new products, raw materials and suppliers
  • Support allergen risk assessments, specifications and shelf‑life trials
  • Help maintain accurate product, ingredient and supplier data
  • Support investigation of customer complaints and quality issues
  • Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
  • Carry out additional tasks to support the Technical Manager and wider Technical team
  • Experience within a food manufacturing or food handling environment
  • Basic understanding of food safety, hygiene and HACCP principles
  • Strong attention to detail with good organisational skills
  • Comfortable working on the factory floor within production environments
  • Exposure to BRCGS standards, audits or quality management systems is desirable
  • Food Safety, Food Science or related qualification is desirable
  • Experience within high care is desirable
