Job summary

A leading technology consultancy in the UK is looking for an experienced Technical Architect to enhance their API Gateway and lead legacy system modernization efforts. You will work primarily with cloud platforms like AWS and should have a well-rounded technical background including Java and DB2. Experience in a similar role within a UK government department is preferred. A people-first approach is essential in this collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Overview

Technical Architecture: Proven experience as a Technical Architect, operating at a SFIA 6 level.

Responsibilities

• API and Gateway Expertise: Strong experience with API Gateway enhancements, including security, routing, and technology adoption.
• Legacy System Modernisation: Experience with decommissioning Legacy systems and migrating to modern technologies.
• Cloud Platforms: Proficient in cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• Agile Methodologies: Proven experience working in agile environments and participating in all agile ceremonies.
• Technical Governance: Experience with architectural governance processes and the ability to produce output design proposals and other technical documentation
• Tech Stack Essentials: proficient in:
  • AWS (API Gateway, S3, Lambda, VPC)
  • Java
  • DB2
  • Relational databases
  • Network Concepts (Firewalls, domains, routing)
• Tech Stack Desirable: proficient in:
  • OpenAPI Schemas
  • Kubernetes (high level)
  • Spring Boot
  • JBOSS/EJB awareness
  • Postgres
  • Python (again for reading code primarily)
  • Awareness of architecture design patterns

Nice to have

• Knowledge of the land registration context and its services.
• Experience in a similar role within a UK government department.
• A "people first" approach, as dealing with conflict is commonplace in these roles.
