A leading customs brokerage firm in the UK is seeking a Team Leader to manage team operations and ensure compliance with Customs regulations. The role requires strong leadership skills and a good understanding of customs processes. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in customs brokerage and excellent communication abilities. The position is office-based and offers competitive benefits, including a pension plan and healthcare support.
To lead a Team in order to provide operational requirements and service levels which have been agreed with our clients in a timely and efficient manner.
To lead the team by example and ensure all Company policies and processes are being adhered to
Responsible for issuing and dividing the daily tasks to the team when applicable
Mentoring the team
Assist with monthly reporting to management
To assist with queries & issues to help the team meet their targets if needed
Holiday and absence authorisation and monitoring & carrying out return to work interviews, updating documentation and uploading to YouManage
Carrying out effective 1-2-1 meetings and appraisals with the team
Prepare & check documentation according to Customs regulations, laws, and / or procedures
Request or compile necessary documentation, such as commercial invoices, Packing Lists, Certs. Of Origin etc.
Advise customers & the team of any Customs-related matters that might be applicable to them
Confer with officials in various agencies to facilitate clearance of goods through Customs
Maintain relationships with shipping lines and freight forwarders to expedite clearing of cargo
Oversee the day to day running of operations for our customers
Be a point of contact / escalation for the OOH support team (on a rota with other Team leaders) to assist the 24 / 7 shift with any issues and elevate where necessary
Manage and onboard new customers / work into our current workflow as not to disrupt other customer’s service
Effectively manage own time, workload and resources
Ensure that all work is accurate, and attention has been given to the finer details
Apply company policies, standards and guidance and ensure colleagues understand how the guidelines will affect their work
The work is mainly office based
The dress code is smart / casual whilst in the office
A good standard of literacy and numeracy and the ability to present to colleagues
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the below sectors :
An awareness of confidentiality of data
Ability to be flexible and contribute to other areas of the business where required
Strong Customs knowledge
Understanding of CDS.
