Job description

In this role you’ll :
  • Supervise a team carrying out routine or repetitive activities with well‑defined and accepted work practices. Team Leader Grade 1 facilitates team processes to meet agreed work plans and project specifications.
The Team Leader Grade 1 will also be responsible for :
  • Motivating and guiding a tight‑knit Linemarking team in a trades and non‑trades environment.
  • Working collaboratively with your crew to resolve issues and find the best solution to problems that may arise.
  • Contributing to finding solutions to improve productivity during daily team meetings.
  • Mentoring and leading by example when providing on‑the‑job training to team members in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Ensuring safety is front and centre when performing daily activities and all environmental quality controls are implemented on site.
  • Ensuring scheduled Linemarking activities are completed within the desired timeframes and within budget in accordance with TfNSW specifications and operating procedures.

This is an ongoing full‑time role located at Tamworth.

You will be regularly required to work outside of normal working hours and work at locations away from home whilst travelling extensively throughout regional NSW. Allowances relating to working away from home and accommodation apply.

TfNSW take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be eligible for this role it is a requirement that you must reside within 70 km of Tamworth Depot.

About you
  • You are a proactive and organized leader with extended knowledge and experience in a Linemarking or civil construction environment who can provide strong leadership to bring out the best in their team.
  • You are an excellent communicator with great negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • You have proven ability to follow appropriate safe working procedures and resolve routine problems independently.
  • You hold a current Construction Industry White Card and a current unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle drivers licence.
  • Experience operating as a Road Worker Grade 3 or related laboring experience in a civil construction environment and sound experience using internal reporting systems will be required.
  • A Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) Drivers Licence would be viewed favorably.
