Job description

• The post holder will be one of 2 Team Leaders in the Audiology Service with designated responsibility for the service at Scunthorpe General Hospital, Scunthorpe Community Diagnostic Centre and Goole Hospital.
• They will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Audiology Department, service delivery and continuous professional development of the team, managing attendance, annual leave and staff appraisals.
• This post holder will act as a Deputy to the Audiology Lead assisting relevant managers, staff and clinicians with bringing insight from local and national perspectives relating to service delivery & continuous professional development of the team. The Team Lead will assist with service planning, development and strategy by advising on professional aspects. They are not expected to be hands on specialists in all aspects of clinical care for the profession although they will carry a highly specialist clinical caseload relevant to their post.
• The post holder will be responsible for working with other members of the Audiology team to provide a high-quality Audiology service to adults & children served by the Trust and in wider community locations. This will include the diagnostic evaluation and rehabilitation of adults with hearing loss. As this is a senior post you will also have an element of complex work to undertake and will provide supervision/advice to junior members of the team.
• To perform audiometric tests to include Visual Reinforcement Audiometry, Performance Audiometry, Play Audiometry, Audiometry, Speech Audiometry, Speech Discrimination Testing Tympanometry, Acoustic Reflexes, TEOAE, followed by the subsequent fitting and verification of hearing aid amplification. Maintain patient’s hearing aids by performing hearing aid repairs and maintenance and taking aural ear mould impressions on adults and young children. You will also hold advanced Audiology skills and knowledge for assessing and managing non-routine patients and will be encouraged to have a specialist area of interest which will be developed, this will be in either paediatrics, managing complex adult patients.
