Job Title: Teaching Assistant (KS4 Specialist)

Location: Horwich, Bolton | Length of Role: Until July 2026 | Pay Rate: £89 – £105 per day | Contract Type: Temporary with potential to go permanent

A well-regarded secondary school in Horwich, Bolton is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant (KS4 Specialist) to support students across Key Stage 4. This is a long-term role running until July 2026, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The school is looking for a proactive and academically confident individual who can support pupils preparing for their GCSE examinations, delivering targeted interventions and helping to raise attainment across core subjects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong subject knowledge, experience supporting secondary learners, or a graduate considering a career in teaching.

Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted KS4 support, focusing particularly on GCSE intervention in core subjects.
  • Deliver small-group and 1:1 academic interventions to address gaps in knowledge.
  • Assist teachers in planning and adapting resources for exam-focused learning.
  • Support students with revision, exam techniques and subject-specific challenges.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to intervention tracking and assessments.
  • Build positive relationships to motivate learners and promote strong study habits.
  • Help maintain a focused, productive and supportive classroom environment.
Requirements
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged students, ideally within KS4.
  • Strong subject knowledge across English, Maths and/or Science.
  • Ability to deliver structured academic support and intervention sessions.
  • Confident communication and rapport-building skills.
  • A patient, supportive and professional approach with high expectations.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
