1:1 Teaching Assistant

Location: BD8
Setting: SEMH Provision Farm Site
Role Type: Full-time, Term-time (Temp to Perm)
Daily rate: £13.68 - £15.30 per hour.

We are looking for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 10 pupil in an SEMH setting in BD8.
The pupil has a developmental age of approximately Year 5 and a diagnosis of mild ADHD. This role is based at a farm site and will involve learning both indoors and outdoors. The successful candidate must be confident and comfortable working around farm animals including goats, horses and other livestock.

This is a highly rewarding role suited to someone with experience supporting young people with social, emotional and behavioural needs in alternative or non-mainstream education environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's academic, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Support learning activities across the day, including outdoor and farm-based tasks
  • Implement strategies in line with the pupil's EHCP and individual targets
  • Promote emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour
  • Build a strong, trusting relationship and act as a positive role model
  • Record and report progress, behaviour and incidents as required
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SEND staff and external professionals
  • Maintain safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
Essential Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND or ADHD
  • Ability to support pupils working below age-related expectations
  • Calm, patient and emotionally resilient approach
  • Comfortable working in an outdoor, farm-based environment
  • Willingness to engage in practical and hands-on learning activities
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable
  • Previous 1:1 support experience
  • Background in SEMH, alternative provision or therapeutic settings
  • Behaviour management training such as Team Teach
