Job summary

A local primary school in Tees Valley is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant Level 2/3 to provide 1:1 support for a child with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Teaching Assistant – Level 2/3 (Upper Key Stage 2)

1:1 Support for Child with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs

Contract Hours: 37 hours per week (term time plus PD days) – temporary

Level 2 salary: £21,806 pro rata – 195 days

Level 3 salary: £24,401 pro rata – 195 days

Barley Fields Primary School is seeking a caring, proactive and committed Teaching Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis in the first instance. This role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Upper Key Stage 2 with social and emotional difficulties.

Responsibilities
  • Can build a trusting, positive relationship with the child, helping to develop their confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Has the initiative, patience and emotional intelligence to respond to the child’s individual needs.
  • Can work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider staff team to implement supportive strategies.
  • Brings a warm personality, a calm approach and a genuine desire to make a difference.
Essential requirements
  • Relevant TA qualification (Level 2 or Level 3).
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs (desirable).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
