Teaching Assistant - Behaviour & Relationships Mentor (SEMH Support)

Location: Grantham (NG31)

Pay: £110 - £120 per day (£22,650 - £24,952 per annum)

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, term-time only

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Long-term to permanent

About the Role

Long Term Futures is seeking a passionate Behaviour and Relationships Mentor (Teaching Assistant) to join a specialist SEMH school in Nottingham. This setting supports learners aged 5 to 16 who have social, emotional and mental health needs and may have struggled in mainstream education. The school\'s structured, tailored approach blends academic learning with strong pastoral support, helping pupils rebuild confidence and engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support, focused on emotional regulation and behaviour management
  • Implement personalised, positive behaviour strategies rooted in consistency and trust
  • Build supportive relationships to facilitate re-engagement and personal development
  • Support students\' independence, resilience and life skills alongside academic progress
  • Work collaboratively with school staff, therapists and leadership to drive pupil success
  • Monitor and respond to pupils\' progress, adapting support as needed
Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or SEND needs
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach when working with challenging behaviour
  • Familiarity with behaviour management frameworks (e.g., Team Teach) is beneficial
  • TA qualification (Level 2+) is desirable
  • Strong communication and genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
