Qualifications

Job Title – SEN Teacher – Science Contract: Full‑time, Permanent
Salary: £34,398 – £48,913 per year (M1 – UPS1 Fringe)
Bonus: £5,000 Welcome Bonus for Qualified Teachers

Hours

40 hours per week (Start time: 8:15 am – Finish times: Monday / Wednesday / Thursday 4:45 pm, Tuesday 5 pm, Friday 4 pm).

Overview

Your new company: A brand‑new specialist secondary school opened close to Redhill in September 2025. The school will cater for young people aged 11‑16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with autism. Students will access a broad and exciting curriculum, aligned to the national curriculum but personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With small class sizes, high levels of classroom support, and a dedicated multidisciplinary intervention team, the school will provide every opportunity for students to achieve. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school at the very start of its journey.

Your new role

The Teacher will deliver high‑quality teaching and learning for children and young people with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing needs, typically associated with autism. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties and may present with challenging behaviours.

Key Duties
  • Contribute to the delivery and development of the science curriculum, considering the educational, physical and social needs of students.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain and use short, medium and long‑term plans in delivering the curriculum.
  • Set, monitor and review personalised targets to optimise learning for each individual.
  • Monitor, assess, review and report on student progress to parents, staff and external bodies.
  • Develop lesson plans and self‑reflect on outcomes.
  • Contribute to the review of Statements, EHCPs, PEPs and LAC reviews.
  • Provide clear lesson structures that maintain pace, motivation and challenge.
  • Stay informed on current issues in autism and SEND to plan effective teaching.
  • Manage challenging behaviours in line with school policy and procedures.
  • Duties will vary, and flexibility is expected to support the wider needs of the school.
What you'll need to succeed
  • PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification, with evidence of in‑service training.
  • Ability to teach Science up to and including GCSE level.
  • Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.
  • Sound knowledge of the national curriculum.
  • Understanding and experience of autism and associated conditions, and how these affect learning.
  • Experience in curriculum development and implementation for pupils with SEND.
