We are seeking a committed and knowledgeable Teacher of Physics to join our Science team from April or September 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Teach combined science in Year 7 and physics from Year 8 to 13, delivering high-quality lessons that stretch and challenge pupils of all abilities while fostering confidence, curiosity and a genuine love of the subject.
  • Teach physics as a way of thinking about the world, developing pupils' conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and independence of thought.
  • Join a supportive and collaborative department where subject expertise is valued and teachers are trusted as professionals.
  • Develop strong relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents, and contribute positively to the wider academic, pastoral, and co-curricular life of the school.
The Physics Department

The physics department is strong and well-established at GSAL, characterised by high expectations, excellent outcomes, and a shared commitment to outstanding teaching and learning. The department is well resourced, with modern specialist laboratories and extensive equipment, enabling practical work to sit at the heart of physics teaching. All pupils study combined science in Year 7 and physics in Years 8 and 9, with strong uptake and excellent results at GCSE and A level. Schemes of work extend beyond the requirements of the National Curriculum and examination specifications, giving teachers the freedom and flexibility to enrich the curriculum. There are also opportunities to contribute to a varied programme of enrichment, trips and co-curricular activities, both within the UK and overseas.
