Teacher of English – Maternity Cover

MPS / UPS

To start from 23rd February 2026 we are looking for an exceptional Teacher of English for Maternity Cover who will inspire and motivate students in this distinctive and high achieving state‑funded day and boarding school for boys in the lower school and large mixed Sixth Form.

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and high expectations who will create a buzz and excitement both within and beyond the confines of the classroom. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to deliver outstanding academic results and exemplary classroom practice.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach English at both KS3 and KS4.

The English results are very strong both at GCSE (82% achieving grade 4 or higher and 73% achieving a grade 5 or higher in 2025) and at A level (86% A). The English Faculty is proud of the success of their students at both GCSE and A level and of the many students who take their English studies further at university.

The School has a vibrant extra‑cultural life which includes sport, music, debating, drama, outdoor activities and public speaking. A willingness to contribute will be a clear advantage.
