Job description
What skills and experience we're looking for
About us and the role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Design and Technology to join our growing school, which was graded Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in May 2025. We welcome applications from specialists across all areas of the curriculum, including Product Design, Graphics, Textiles, and Food & Nutrition.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a creative, forward‑thinking, and ambitious department. Teaching will take place in our exceptionally equipped, industry‑standard facilities, and you will be joining a subject area where uptake at Key Stage 4 is exceptionally high. As we prepare to open our sixth‑form provision, Avanti6, in September 2027, there will also be opportunities to contribute to the development of our KS5 curriculum.

You will deliver a high‑quality and engaging curriculum, set clear expectations for behaviour and achievement, and foster a safe and purposeful environment in which students can develop their practical, technical, and design skills.

We are looking for a teacher who brings strong subject knowledge, creativity, and a commitment to helping students produce work they are proud of. The ability to teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 is essential, and an interest in shaping future curriculum pathways as the school grows would be welcomed.

As a valued member of our team, you will build constructive relationships with pupils and colleagues, contribute fully to the wider life of the school, and engage actively in professional learning.

If you are committed to high standards and keen to develop your practice within a supportive and ambitious school community, we would welcome your application.

School visits are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the school to arrange a suitable time.

Interviews will take place on 28th January 2026.

What will you do?
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers about pupils’ achievements and wellbeing using school systems/processes as appropriate.
  • Deliver the curriculum as relevant to the age and ability group/subject/s that you teach.
  • Establish a safe, purposeful and stimulating environment for pupils, rooted in mutual respect and establish a framework for discipline with a range of strategies, using praise, sanctions and rewards consistently and fairly.
  • Participate in any relevant meetings/professional development opportunities at the school, which relate to the learners, curriculum or organisation of the school including pastoral arrangements and assemblies.
What are we looking for?
  • QTS Qualified.
  • Able to self‑start, work independently and collaboratively as part of a team‑whether led or leading.
  • Clear vision and understanding of how to implement and sustain a high‑quality teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students.
