We are a growing department with a passion for inclusivity and strive to get the very best from our learners. You will be part of a team that is responsible for the planning, delivery and assessment of learners engaged in vocational Art and Design based programmes at Levels 1, 2 and 3. We have a range of teachers all with specialisms in a range of art disciplines. Other responsibilities for this post may include acting as a coordinator for a particular programme and taking on the role of Pastoral Tutor for a specified group of learners.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with a range of skills within art and design. We are particularly interested in candidates with an ability to deliver fine art, product design, interior design, printmaking, or 3D design but would consider any specialism.
The ideal candidate will have good knowledge and experience of the Visual Arts and Design sector and be able to work as part of a team. An ability to use programmes within the Adobe suite, would be an advantage.
Candidates will ideally have a relevant teaching/training qualification and experience of the post 16 sector. We will also consider applications from those who are newly qualified or who are wishing to train as a teacher whilst working.
A full time post carries 828 delivery hours on an annual basis (pro rata for part time).

2. The Post
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To plan, co-ordinate, design, deliver and develop programmes of study for learners in college, working with the Head of Department and other delivery staff to ensure effective curriculum design and quality assurance procedures are implemented.
- To teach lessons that enable learners to excel. To be pro-active in identifying strategies to improve learner performance and success rates to enhance the learning experience. To use Microsoft Teams as a repository for learning resources.
- To assess learners according to established guidelines. To develop and deliver best practice in learning, teaching and assessment ensuring standardisation and continuity.
- To plan, prepare, deliver and assess programmes across all levels.
- To have an involvement in internal verification where appropriate and maintain quality systems in line with the college quality requirements, according to established guidelines.
- To promote and monitor the attendance, retention and achievement of learners on a continuous basis, ensuring that all appropriate documentation is completed, readily available and in line with college procedures. Provide accurate feedback on progress and outcomes to managers, parents and students. Attend parents’ evenings and similar events.
- To design, develop and monitor resources for learner use, ensuring that they are appropriate for learning and programme needs.
- To positively promote the development of English and maths skills and qualifications. To embed the development of English and maths skills within the study programme.
- To support learners in monitoring their progress through recording, tracking, documenting, portfolio building and progress reviews.
- To ensure that course files and programme documentation are accurately maintained, including course handbooks, schemes of work etc.
- To provide initial advice and guidance on programmes of study including interviewing potential learners. Attend IAG events as required, this may include some evening and weekend work for Open Days.
- To keep up-to-date with curriculum initiatives, development of standards and general developmental and professional issues relating to the delivery of learning and teaching in your area.
- To implement quality procedures, contributing to thorough, reviews which feed into the self-assessment process. To meet deadlines as per the college quality calendar.
- To complete documentation, appropriate records of learner performance and administration associated with role and responsibilities.
- To maintain appropriate standards of learner behaviour and maintain an environment conducive to excellent learning and teaching.
- To have an involvement in internal verification where appropriate and maintain quality systems in line with the college quality requirements according to established guidelines.
- To work flexibly as directed by the line manager.
