Job description
Overview

ICT + Science & Maths Teacher – All‑through (KS1–KS4) alternative provision in Lambeth supports pupils who cannot access mainstream education due to exclusion, illness, unmet SEN needs or other complex factors. The provision operates at two sites (SEMH setting in West Norwood and PRU setting in Kennington) and also offers respite placements. Recruitment is being managed exclusively by Horizon Teachers.

Many learners arrive with an interrupted or inconsistent educational experience, often linked to persistent exclusions, unrecognised SEN or challenging circumstances. The provision places great emphasis on helping students develop consequential thinking, take responsibility for their behaviour, and achieve both academic and personal growth.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality ICT, Science and Maths learning across KS3 and KS4, adapting lessons for a wide range of abilities and needs.
  • Use relational and trauma‑informed approaches to behaviour management, maintaining high expectations while providing a supportive, predictable classroom environment.
  • Assess learning regularly, identify gaps and create targeted interventions that support academic and emotional progress.
  • Collaborate closely with pastoral teams, SEN specialists, external agencies, parents and carers.
  • Contribute to a curriculum that blends academic learning with personal, social and life‑skills development.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Strong commitment to inclusion, belief in second chances and passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
  • Experience in SEMH, AP or SEND settings helpful but not essential.
  • Ability to maintain consistency, show empathy and apply restorative approaches to behaviour.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) desirable but not essential; unqualified teachers, instructors and candidates with strong subject knowledge or vocational experience are welcome.
Additional Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
  • Provide original qualifications for verification before placement.
  • Teaching roles require QTS or equivalent.
