Job description

Eastward House School

We are all primarily teachers of children before teachers of subjects. Central to this role is knowing the child, building professional, nurturing and positive relationships and motivating students.

We are looking for a qualified teacher to add to our team. Our curricula spans Primary, Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key stage 3 and GCSE and Post 16 pathways. You will be supported by a small but enthusiastic and committed team, who can support the work of non-subject specialists to be experts in how best to facilitate learning for the children they know best.

Eastward House school teachers inspire children, creating a sense of awe and wonder and making subjects and lessons real and relevant to them. They plan exciting and engaging learning opportunities which challenge and push students, whether they are working on the very basics or they have a special talent or passion for the subject. Lessons are often tailored around individual likes and dislikes in the primary curriculum and are delivered in short manageable chunks in the older classes.

We want our teachers to be part of the decision making that drives our school, provides outcomes for children and advocates for every child. We welcome their input in developing both the academic curriculum and the opportunities in our extra-curricular offer – bringing their own interests and passions to the table.

  • To have the personal and professional qualities required to develop our vision and ethos of the service.
  • To promote the pastoral care, well-being and safeguarding of pupils across the school.
  • To collaborate with colleagues in order to strengthen the school’s effectiveness.
Job Specific

  • To share good practice with other members of staff on teaching and learning specific to their specialist subject.
  • To oversee quality assurance of teaching and learning practice within their subject across the school.
  • To assist with the planning and the review of the curriculum
  • To analyse tracking data to monitor progress of all students within their subject and intervene where necessary
  • To implement effective QA of pupil work and the progress they make
