Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tax Accountant to join a leading energy services company with a strong international presence.

Based in Aberdeen and offering hybrid working, this permanent role is ideal for a qualified tax or accounting professional seeking to expand their influence across VAT and employment tax compliance within complex, multinational operations.

Working as part of a well-established finance function, you'll support legal entities across Europe and Africa. You’ll take ownership of critical tax processes, provide expert guidance to the wider business, and play a key role in ensuring the organisation remains compliant with evolving tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and submitting the UK group VAT return.
  • Managing VAT accounts including input, output, and control accounts.
  • Leading the monthly VAT netting process and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Reviewing and approving VAT treatment on new contracts.
  • Working with overseas advisors to ensure timely submission of local tax returns.
  • Collaborating with customs teams to account for PIVA, C79, and duty deferments.
  • Overseeing and approving CIS returns, IR35 assessments, and relocation expenses.
  • Supporting P11D/PSA submissions and employment tax queries.
  • Monitoring and implementing legislative changes, ensuring internal processes stay aligned.
  • Driving continuous improvement in VAT compliance and reporting processes.

Experience required:

  • Solid working knowledge of UK tax and VAT regulations.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to make sound judgements and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • High proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP systems, ideally Oracle.
  • Experience in oilfield services or related industries is advantageous.
