Entry‑Level Systems Engineer

We are looking for an enthusiastic and meticulous Entry‑Level Systems Engineer to join our innovative team at Leidos. This is an excellent opportunity for someone technically savvy who is passionate about supporting, maintaining, and improving complex systems. The successful candidate will contribute directly to mission‑critical MOD projects that support UK National Security, gaining hands‑on experience with advanced technology and system infrastructures. This position offers considerable scope for learning and professional growth within a highly dynamic environment. Degree or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical engineering, or related technical fields.

Responsibilities
  • Fault Diagnosis and Resolution: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues swiftly to minimise downtime and ensure operational readiness.
  • Inventory & Stores Management: Oversee inventory, track equipment, and manage logistics for system components, maintaining accurate and up-to‑date records.
  • Manufacturing Support: Assist in implementing build processes, configuration management, and quality control to uphold system integrity.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support system integration, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Process Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation on system processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Routine Maintenance: Support regular system maintenance, upgrades, and performance monitoring to ensure ongoing efficiency.
  • Safety and Compliance: Uphold all safety guidelines and organisational standards during technical operations.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Proven skills in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software faults.
  • Experience in inventory or stores processing and equipment tracking.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and reporting.
Desirable Experience
  • Exposure to Personal Role Radios (PRRs), including configuration or maintenance.
  • Understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) systems, including their setup, testing, or troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ATAK (Android Tactical Assault Kit) integration or similar tactical communication platforms.
  • Practical experience with IP configuration, including network protocol setup, IP addressing, and routing.
Preferred Skills
  • Basic knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Familiarity with hardware/software diagnostic tools.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to learn new technologies.
  • Experience in producing technical documentation and reports.
Location

This role will be based in Herefordshire, with very occasional travel to other sites.
