Job summary

A leading NHS trust in London is seeking a Suspected Cancer Diagnostics Pathway Coordinator to support the implementation and management of the RAPID service for prostate and bladder cancer. The role involves coordinating referrals, ensuring quality checks, and liaising with patients and healthcare providers. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills and experience in cancer services, offering a salary range of £35,763 to £43,466 inclusive of high cost area supplement.

Suspected Cancer Diagnostics Pathway Coordinator

The closing date is 23 December 2025.

  • The purpose of this role is to support the implementation, management and monitoring of the RAPID Prostate and Bladder service. The post holder will be responsible for the administration for the design and implementation of the pathway and responsible for ensuring the implementation of the processes are working efficiently and within the agreed millstones.
  • The post holder will be responsible for the quality check of prostate & bladder cancer referrals ensuring that all relevant information is present before the clinical triage takes place. They will liaise with the GP practices and any other services to ensure that all relevant information is collated and be required to work across a range of IT systems to coordinate the booking of patient appointments.
  • The post holder will work both directly and indirectly with patients and their carers to assist in coordinating the care of patients through their hospital care journey, providing the patient with the relevant information and coordinate any test preparations that need to be sent or collected by the patient.
Main duties of the job
  • Manage the administration and delivery of the RAPID pathway for both prostate and bladder.
  • Coordinate Prostate & Bladder Biopsy referrals through a single point of access.
  • To be proficient in all IT systems relevant for the role.
  • To assess the referrals and ensure all relevant information is present and where further information is required to coordinate its timely collation.
  • To be a single point of liaison for referrals, Radiology booking for one stop haematuria booking and coordination of patient test preparation.
  • To work seamlessly with the whole RAPID prostate & bladder team.
  • To ensure that the provisions of appropriate services at the right time and in the right place are available for patients and to have the knowledge to signpost patients as required.
  • Be a single point of contact for patients, carers and the healthcare team - triaging sensitive enquiries and referring to the appropriate department within the hospital or community setting.
  • Provide early detection of problems in both prostate and bladder pathway.

Job responsibilities
  1. Coordinate referrals and ensure all relevant information is present as per policy and protocols.
  2. Ensure patient appointments are booked in line with the pathway protocols.
  3. To be a point of contact for GPs who have queries regarding their patients that have been referred to the service. Coordinate the necessary assessments, appointments or investigations as identified.
  4. Support the delivery of patient information to ensure all patients/carers receive appropriate verbal/written communications on a timely manner this may include printing out information documents and monitor all aspects of care coordination and service delivery.
  5. Act as the patient advocate and facilitator in order to resolve issues that may be perceived as barriers to accessing the service.
  6. Effectively utilise a computer and various software applications in order to enter and maintain patient data, communicate with the multidisciplinary team and complete other IT tasks as required by the post.
