If you're looking for a Support Worker job that feels less like work and more like a positive adventure, you belong at Optalis.

About Our Services

Tithe Barn is located just off Windsor Road, near the junction for Fifield, and is home to two charismatic young ladies who have support needs. Both have learning disabilities and complex needs, and they each receive one-to-one support throughout the day.

Foxdown is located in the village of Paley Street and is our supported living service dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching environment for six men aged between 50 and 70. In addition to big personalities, the gentlemen we support have learning disabilities and a range of complex health needs.

Both roles are shift based - working hours at Tithe Barn are between 0730 and 2200, whilst Foxdown is between 0700 and 2130 - this will include a mix of shifts between these hours, including alternate weekends.

Responsibilities will include supporting with their daily routines – this will involve helping to prepare and cook meals, clean the property, go shopping, attend appointments and take part in activities. The role will also include administering medication, supporting with personal care, such as helping to wash, dress and maintain a good level of hygiene. Due to the complex health needs of some of the people we support, there may be a need to assist with hoisting and wheelchair mobility, as well as managing challenging behaviours and overseeing their general health and wellbeing.

A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is required for this service due to the location – you will also be expected to drive our vehicles to transport the people we support.

About You

Beyond professionalism, we are seeking individuals who truly bring warmth, creativity, and a sense of fun to their role. Successful support workers possess deep empathy, patience, and resilience, coupled with a naturally positive and compassionate attitude. Crucially, you must be a proactive and engaging person who is dedicated to helping the people we support enjoy their lives to the fullest - whether that means exploring new activities, sharing a laugh, or simply creating joyful moments.

Experience in the care sector would be beneficial but is not necessary as we provide full training. This includes classroom-based learning for practical skills, online sessions for theory and awareness, and shadowing experienced staff to learn how we do things.

If you are a reliable, adaptable, and genuinely happy person who takes initiative to promote independence, dignity, and enjoyment, we encourage you to apply at optalis.org/jobs
