Support Worker
Halesowen West Midlands

Hours: Part-time (Minimum 18 hours per week / 3 shifts per week including evenings and weekends)

Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

About the Service

Our client provides supported living services in Halesowen which provides care and support for young people aged 16 - 18 years across 10 individual apartments along with a dedicated Mother and Baby Unit. They work with young adults who have experienced trauma family breakdown or adverse childhood experiences helping them to build independence stability and positive futures.

The Role

As a Support Worker you will play a key role in supporting young people to achieve their personal goals develop life skills and transition towards independent living. You will work closely with the Deputy Manager and other team members to deliver person-centred support within a safe nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional and practical support to young people aged 1618 and young mothers in our supported accommodation.
  • Promote independence and life skills including budgeting cooking personal care and positive parenting.
  • Support young people in accessing education training employment and community resources.
  • Maintain accurate daily records support plans and incident reports.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
  • Build trusting professional relationships with residents and act as a positive role model.
  • Support with household tasks daily routines and community integration.
  • Participate in staff meetings training and supervision sessions.
  • Work flexibly across a rota including evenings weekends and sleep-in shifts as required.
Requirements

  • Strong communication and empathy skills.
  • Reliability patience and resilience in challenging situations.
  • Willingness to work a flexible rota pattern (including evenings and weekends)
  • Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting young people with emotional or behavioural difficulties or young parents.
  • Understanding of safeguarding trauma-informed care and positive behaviour support.
