Job description
Overview

We are looking to appoint a Support Medical Secretary to cover adoption leave within the Oncology Department.

Responsibilities
  • Digital and audio typing of clinical letters, correspondence and discharge summaries.
  • Ensuring results of tests and investigations for patients are reviewed by the Clinical teams in a timely manner and making any necessary ongoing arrangements.
  • Arrange, attend and minute meetings as required, taking and transcribing minutes and follow up actions.
  • Using the in-house patient data tracking system ensure patient case notes are booked in and out appropriately.
  • Respond to Patient and Carers telephone calls, regarding a variety of subjects, using own judgement in a professional and competent manner to provide non-clinical guidance.
Requirements/Skills
  • Fully conversant with all Microsoft applications, word processing, Microsoft Publisher, producing presentations using PowerPoint, maintaining databases on Excel and Access.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure with the ability to manage and prioritise own workload; providing and receiving information which may require tact, diplomacy and persuasive skills as there may be barriers to understanding.
  • Exercises initiative and independent judgement whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times.
