Supply Chain Shift Planner

Shift Pattern: 4 on 3 off (Wed - Sat). Working Hours rotating weekly: Week 1 - 7am‑5pm. Week 2 - 10am‑8pm. Location: Glenfield, LE3 8JR.

The role

The supply chain department forms the central hub between suppliers, the warehouse, production, loading, hauliers, customers, hygiene, engineering and other external stakeholders. It is a key cornerstone that allows our operation to run effectively and efficiently, ensuring all parties know what is required from them and at what time. The role requires someone who is highly communicative, with strong interpersonal skills, to build good relationships with all areas. This person should have an eye for detail while keeping things simple and to the point.

Responsibilities
  • Produce and communicate accurate and reliable production plans to maximise sales and service while minimising cost per unit, including materials, labour and line planning and scheduling. Liaise with production, hygiene, engineering and external parties such as customers, hauliers and suppliers.
  • Download orders from customers and update production plans, making any changes as necessary and communicate with 3rd parties.
  • Monitor progress against the production plan ensuring we are where we think we are.
  • Purchase flour for both sites, ensuring the right amount at the right time and communicate with suppliers.
  • Communicate transport requirements to hauliers, ensuring the correct number of lorries at the right time, and manage communication with all parties when things are not according to plan. This includes establishing cost‑effective vehicle scheduling and managing issues that may impact this.
  • Assist with ensuring an adequate number of baskets on site to run operations effectively, liaising with all 3rd parties regarding collections to address any significant changes in requirements.
  • Ensure baskets are collected in the most cost‑effective way, monitor average collection cost per basket and liaise with 3rd parties to optimise vehicle/fill, collection points, etc., to drive down the average cost per basket.
  • Engage senior management if there are any significant issues affecting any of the above.
  • Assist with the implementation of new systems and processes that enable smooth operation while building a robust planning process for future growth.
  • Establish robust processes that ensure effective running during weekends and holidays and that people know what to do in exceptional circumstances.
