Overview

Role: Superintendent Radiographer - MRI Outpatients

Location: London, Harley Street Campus (The Harley Street Campus) • City of Westminster, London, Greater London, England

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) • 5 shifts per week between 07:30 and 20:00, with on‑call requirements

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Competitive, dependent on skills & experience

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the highest quality of care is provided at all times and provide an effective service as part of the day-to-day operation of the MRI department
  • Carry out a full range of MRI scans to a high standard; ensure high quality imaging is provided to consultants and liaise with radiologists to strive for image optimisation
  • Oversee all aspects of safety for patients and staff; complete and review risk assessments and local MRI rules; lead on safety checks, procedures, and policies; assist in incident reporting and investigation
  • Line management responsibilities for MRI radiographers/cross‑sectional radiographers
  • Provide emotional and professional support to staff
  • Participate in the Senior Management Team for Imaging; attend SMT meetings and lead the MRI department to support growth; collaborate with other superintendents to support the Imaging service
  • Assist with scanner bookings and schedules to optimise capacity; manage opening times of scanners in line with service requirements and liaise with imaging management
  • Manage training of radiographers in MRI use and maintain an up-to-date competency framework
  • Report to the MRI Non-Ionising Radiation User Group and Local Radiation Protection Committee to ensure compliance with legislation
  • Liaise with service engineers and bookings team regarding equipment faults and routine servicing; coordinate contingency arrangements for business continuity
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures within the radiology department and ensure staff work within these guidelines
