Purpose of the Role

As an Assistant Accountant you will work closely with our Accounting team to support a wide range of financial activities. This placement offers hands‑on experience in producing financial reports, researching accounting standards and tax legislation, managing governance and credit control and supporting internal controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing financial reports (e.g. income statements, balance sheets).
  • Support month‑end and year‑end close processes.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations.
  • Assist with tax compliance matters including tax analysis and PAYE settlement preparation.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and perform data entry.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Support internal control activities and ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards.
  • Carry out any other duties relevant to the post.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy (right first time mentality).
  • Ability to adapt to change and work flexibly.
  • Good communication skills and ability to manage internal stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on sense‑checking work.
  • Understanding of financial reporting processes.
Qualifications Experience & Knowledge
  • Currently studying towards a bachelor's degree with an interest in a career in Finance.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in MS Excel (skills will be tested during interviews).
  • Experience with SAP is advantageous.
Decision Accountability
  • Producing accurate financial data and research.
  • Meeting deadlines for financial reporting.
  • Supporting the Accounting team in various tasks.
Performance Measurements
  • Timely organisation of cost control and departmental meetings.
  • Accurate and punctual completion of monthly forecasts and reports.
  • Material master reviews completed daily.
  • Cost centre absorption and utilisation reports delivered within agreed timelines.
