Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the UK is seeking a Substation Project Engineer for a remote position with a daily rate of £750. The ideal candidate will have a degree in electrical engineering, along with at least 3 years of experience in substation engineering up to 400kV. Responsibilities include creating site plans, reviewing contractor designs, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This is an urgent role with a contract of 6 months, potentially extendable.

Rates: £750 Daily Rate Inside IR35 via Umbrella
Clearance: BPSS (DBS/DS, Financial Probity, Employment History) + Medical Questionnaire & Proof of Right to Work in the UK

Key Accountabilities

• Creating outline scope, site location plans, primary plant layout and Single Line Diagrams for new build and asset replacement type projects, operating up to 400kV.
• Reviewing contractor/consultants detailed designs and witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing.
• Implementing safety by design principles to ensure that engineering and safety risks are adequately controlled.
• Support site and operational teams to ensure the quality of installations, with minimal risk to Network security.
• Evaluate tenders and procure and manage specialist services from consultants

Essential Qualifications

• Candidates must be degree qualified electrical engineers to be considered for this role.
• Previous Transmission experience required.
• A minimum of 3+ Years substation project engineer experience up to 400kV
• Proven experience in high-voltage substation design, operation, and maintenance.
• Proficiency in project management
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations
