Job description

HMP Winchester is a busy male prison with a capacity for 690 inmates. We are recruiting for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to support the wider team with tasks such as observations, second sig to support pharmacy, helping out with recovery and supporting with the wider ISMS Team. Hours 37.5 hours per week Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 0800 - 1600.

Eligibility
  • NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
  • Experience or knowledge of Substance Misuse.
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
  • Ability to work within a busy environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.

What you’ll be doing
  • Support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care.
  • Be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

This position is full time; you’ll receive an annual salary up to £31,89 per annum FTE – depending on experience.
