Job summary

A community-focused charity in Doncaster is seeking a Substance Misuse Case Manager to provide vital services to individuals struggling with addiction. You will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, demonstrating expert practices in treatment and assessments. Candidates should possess a relevant degree or diploma in substance misuse. The annual salary ranges from £25,905 to £31,611 based on experience, offering an opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by substance misuse.

Substance Misuse Case Manager - Open Access and Assessment Team Team

The Alcohol & Drug Service (ADS) are a registered charity who have been transforming the lives of people affected by drugs and alcohol misuse for over 40 years.

Aspire is a partnership between ADS and Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH). It combines the strengths of both NHS provision under the leadership of a consultant with the strengths of the voluntary sector provided by ADS. The partnership has worked together for over 20 years providing Drug and Alcohol Services to our local communities. It is a forward thinking and innovative partnership that works closely with the recovery communities it serves to provide flexible, responsive services which offer the best possible outcomes for its service users and community it serves.

Main duties of the job

The Open Access and Assessment (OAT) teamprovide advice and brief interventions, some structured key working, assessments and a needle exchange service to people entering the treatment system.

If you have relevant experience in the substance misuse field, a relevant degree e.g., psychology, sociology, social work or Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent and L3 Tackling Substance Misuse or equivalent we would like to hear from you.

If you are experienced by working in the field but do not have the formal qualifications, we provide a comprehensive package of accredited qualifications and for newly qualified Social Workers we support the ASYE programme.

BASE:In order to meet the needs of the service you will be required to work across multiple base points. ADS reserve the right to change your normal place of work to any other location within the service this may include any of the bases used by the service and agencies that it works in partnership with

OBJECTIVES OF POST:To demonstrate expert and effective practice around substance misuse treatment. Provide advice and brief interventions, some structured key working, assessments and a needle exchange service.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Experience of working within substance misuse services
  • Experience of a multi-disciplinary team working
  • Experience of key working and psychological/psychosocial interventions
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of substances and their effects
  • Knowledge of health and safety including the ability to access high risk situations.
  • Understanding of the recovery movement
  • Understand the complexities of multi-disciplinary working.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults and Children principles and application in practice
  • Knowledge of mental health issues
  • Understanding of the issues facing substance misusers including social care, welfare benefits, health and accommodation
  • Knowledge of therapeutic interventions that can be used when working with service users.
  • Understanding of the clinical management of medical interventions
  • Understand the principles of equality and diversity.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronic operating systems e.g. systmOne
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the importance of social capital and the impact it can have on mental health Experience
Qualifications
  • Relevant Degree e.g. Social Work, Psychology, OR
  • Diploma in Substance Misuse or equivalent AND
  • L3 Drug and Alcohol or equivalent
  • Microsoft Office including outlook, word and excel
