A community support organization in Greater London is seeking a Student Support Worker responsible for administrative support, engaging with learners, and promoting educational opportunities within the prison system. This varied role demands effective communication and organizational skills as well as a strong commitment to helping individuals make positive life changes. The successful candidate will collaborate with teaching staff and partner agencies to deliver a sustainable educational program, ensuring continued support and guidance for participants.
As a Student Support here at PeoplePlus you will be responsible for ensuring that the administration systems and processes operate in a timely and effective manner adhering to all quality standards providing support to our learners teaching staff and the prison allocation teams. As the first point of contact for prisoners our Student Support Workers conduct prisoners induction into the education provision and also the promotion of courses to potential learners across the prison establishment. The role will also include the recruitment of learners for courses maintaining accurate records of achievement linked to initial assessment close liaison with partner agencies and the prison allocation and activity team. Providing ongoing advice and guidance about the courses we offer learners whilst offering appropriate support is essential to ensuring classes are sustainable as well as the scheduling and invigilation of exams. On some sites our Student Support Workers also work with partner organisations to facilitate Open University and distance learning opportunities for our learners.

What I love about working in a prison environment is that no 2 days are the same. You are a number of different roles such as counsellor adviser and at times the person that makes a difference in that individuals life.
