Job Overview

As a Project Officer you will manage elements of a research project, organising and collecting data from interviews, analysing survey data, and developing written outputs. You will work proactively, using initiative and planning skills to set priorities, maintain progress, identify issues and propose solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Use and apply relevant methodologies to analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Design interview questions and conduct one‑to‑one interviews with staff from different roles.
  • Contribute to developing communications plans, presentations and promote project outcomes.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Determine short‑term priorities for own work, ensuring quality, efficiency and continuity.
  • Support the university’s sustainability agenda through resource‑efficient working.
  • Promote equality and diversity, acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive culture.
Qualifications
  • Doctoral level education or equivalent, or significant practical experience in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with mixed‑methods research approaches, including social science methodologies.
  • Significant practical experience delivering research projects and using project management tools.
  • Evidence of literacy and numeracy, with the ability to write clearly and analyse information and data.
  • Highly proficient IT skills, including MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to understand policy, processes and procedures, recommend improvements and implement changes.
  • Excellent analytical skills for producing reports, identifying issues and resolving them decisively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to inspire confidence and command authority across a range of colleagues.
  • High degree of professionalism, tact, diplomacy and discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • High initiative, personal judgement, resourcefulness, flexibility and a self‑motivating approach.
  • Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and ability to ensure equal treatment of protected characteristics.
