Job summary

A leading aviation services provider in West Bromwich seeks an aircraft maintenance engineer to carry out modifications and maintenance tasks. Candidates should have completed an aeronautical engineering apprenticeship and ideally have 2 years of structural aircraft experience. Responsibilities include interpreting technical manuals and performing complex installations to high standards. This role ensures the technical integrity of work performed in a safe environment.

Qualifications

  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical engineering or military equivalent.
  • Ideally 2 years live aircraft sheet metal/structural experience.
  • Previous aircraft production and modification experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out modifications and maintenance in accordance with approved drawings.
  • Complete strip/removal of major structural aircraft equipment.
  • Interpret technical manuals and regulatory requirements.
  • Installation of complex structural assemblies.

Job description
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Carry out modifications and maintenance in accordance with approved drawings and maintenance data, taking full accountability for the technical integrity of all work performed. All tasks will be assigned by the Lead Technician or B1 Engineer. You will be expected to provide regular updates on any issues affecting the work plan, including proposed solutions or recommendations where applicable. Any unsafe conditions must be promptly reported to the Lead Technician or B1 Engineer, as well as through the appropriate internal reporting channels.

  • Complete strip/removal of major structural aircraft equipment.
  • Interpret technical manuals, technical drawings, and regulatory requirements.
  • Installation of complex structural assemblies
  • Working to fine tolerances and high standards
  • Use sealants, various fasteners, bonding techniques as per technical standards
  • Maintain the highest standards of tool control within the work area.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Skills And Abilities
  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship- ideally in Aeronautical engineering or military equivalent
  • Ideally 2 years live aircraft sheet metal/structural experience
  • Previous aircraft production experience
  • Previous aircraft modification experience is advantageous
  • Excellent hand skills
  • Attention to detail
