Job description

Surgically biased or certificate holder in surgery
My client are looking for a passionate Veterinary Surgeon who brings experience and enthusiasm to a growing team. Ideally, you’ll already hold a surgical certificate, or have at least three years of GP experience with a strong surgical interest. You’ll be a confident clinician, a great communicator, and someone who works well with both the clinical and non-clinical members of the team
You will be a dedicated and customer-focused Veterinary Surgeon, who will as a key member of the team, play a vital role in delivering high standards of clinical care and excellent customer service. Your responsibilities will include providing preventive healthcare services, treating unwell or injured pets, and promoting overall pet wellbeing with genuine passion and professionalism.
The full-time Veterinary Surgeons typically work a four-day week, with a consistent day off to support a healthy work-life balance. Each shift lasts nine hours and includes a varied mix of consultations and surgical procedures. Shift times are staggered and include 8:00am to 5:30pm, 9:30am to 7:00pm, and 10:30am to 8:00pm. To ensure you have the time and space to manage your caseload properly, they allocate a full hour every day within your schedule for administrative tasks and communication.
The weekend rota runs on a 1-in-4 basis. However, flexibility is important, and they’re more than happy to discuss alternative working patterns that might better suit your lifestyle. If you have something slightly different in mind, then they can consider this —the goal is to create a work structure that supports you and promotes balance.
You’d be joining the UK’s largest independent, family-owned veterinary group, known for delivering exceptional care within local communities. The Bristol surgery is home to a five-Vet team backed by Head Nurse, five additional RVNs, and a dedicated Client Experience Team.
The purpose-built, light-filled, and modern surgery is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to support both your clinical work and the comfort of patients.
In return, they offer a competitive and comprehensive benefits package to recognise your commitment and support your wellbeing. This includes quarterly recognition payments, enhanced maternity and paternity pay, income protection, an electric car scheme, employee discount programmes, and access to health and wellbeing support via Help at Hand. You’ll also receive funded professional memberships, generous CPD allowance, 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays, and opportunities to join internal leadership training.
