Job summary

A local outreach support organization in Derry/Londonderry is seeking a dedicated individual to provide high-quality services to homeless people through direct engagement. Key responsibilities include building relationships and assessing individual needs. Candidates should have relevant qualifications and experience in health and social care. A driving license and IT skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) including English Language.
  • A relevant recognised qualification in health and social care or related field (Minimum NVQ level II or equivalent).
  • 2 years recent experience of working with people who are sleeping rough/outreach work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with homeless individuals.
  • Assess the risk and needs of each service user.
  • Ensure a support plan is developed for individuals in crisis.

Job description

You will undertake activities required within the street outreach service that aims to provide a high quality, responsive service that meets the needs of people who are sleeping rough and those engaged in associated street culture (male and female) within the city of Derry/Londonderry.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, build and maintain effective relationships with people who are homeless and those engaged in associated street culture within the area. These relationships will be either through referral or on a direct street engagement basis.
  • Assess on an individual basis the risk and needs of each service user.
  • Ensure a plan of support is developed for each individual presenting in crisis.
  • Assist statutory agencies in profiling the population of people who are sleeping/drinking on the streets.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum of three GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) including English Language.
  • A relevant recognised qualification in health and social care or related field (Minimum NVQ level II or equivalent).
  • 2 years recent experience of working with people who are sleeping rough/outreach work in the field of addictions and mental health/or experience of working with homeless people who are vulnerable who need support with addictions/mental health.
  • Hold a driving licence and have access to a car.
  • IT Skills.
