Strategic Partnerships Development Manager

Location: London (Hybrid, 3 days in office, 2 days remote)

About the role

In this role you'll lead strategic partnership projects from planning through to delivery, building trusted relationships, managing risks and budgets, and coordinating efforts across teams to achieve meaningful impact. The role focuses on philanthropic and private sector engagement in infectious diseases, shaping partnership strategies and ensuring alignment with Wellcome's mission.

Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic partnership projects from planning through to delivery, managing risks, budgets and stakeholder relationships to achieve impactful outcomes.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal teams and senior external stakeholders to support priority projects and ongoing collaboration.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional efforts using a matrix management approach, ensuring alignment with Wellcome's mission and partnership strategies.
  • Monitor project progress, adapt plans as needed and report on achievements to inform decision‑making and future direction.
  • Provide expert insight on partnership development, acting as a credible and influential voice across Wellcome and externally.
  • Contribute to an inclusive and values‑led culture, ensuring all work aligns with Wellcome's policies, principles and budgetary guidelines.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years’ experience in strategic partnerships, business development or a related field.
  • Experience in strategic partnerships work internationally, including engaging philanthropy and industry/private sector.
  • Experience in global health or international development sectors.
  • Understanding of research and development ecosystems.
  • Experience planning projects and managing them through to delivery, and managing others to do the same.
