Stock Operations Department Manager - New Destination
Job Introduction
As a Stock and Operations Manager - New Destination, you will provide leadership and operational oversight for all back-of-house functions at our new destination. You will ensure the efficient and compliant handling, movement, and control of stock-including appointments, transfers, shipments, exports, and all Personal Shopping-related inventory-while upholding Selfridges' world-class standards.
In this leadership role, you will drive high operational performance, implement robust processes, and proactively support the Personal Shopping team to deliver a seamless, luxurious client experience. Exceptional organisational capability, strong attention to detail, and the ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, complex environment are essential to ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence across all stock activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight of all stock movement between Oxford Street and our new destination, both OB and Concession ensuring all transfers, appointment stock, and holds are executed with accuracy, efficiency, and full operational compliance.
- Lead the management of the stockroom environment, maintaining exemplary standards of organisation, safety, and compliance in line with Selfridges' policies, audit requirements, and operational best practice.
- Oversee the receiving and processing of all Own Bought stock for brand take overs, specials orders and PS allocation items, ensuring meticulous record-keeping and accountability across all touchpoints.
- Manage the replenishment and auditing of all GMC related items including F&B, packaging, stationery, and value-in-kind items, ensuring availability, cost control, and accurate forecasting for Personal Shopping operations.
- Direct and support post-appointment procedures, ensuring teams clear suites efficiently, return product to the shop floor promptly, and process return stock inline with brand and operational standards.
- Lead preparation for all stock audits, ensuring full compliance by validating stock on loan, hold tickets, paid items, and all audit-related documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the ISF team to anticipate and fulfil stock requirements, implementing processes to minimise product abandonments and enhance stock availability.
- Conduct and oversee regular mini-audits, driving timely resolution of stock discrepancies, damages, and stock loss in partnership with Loss Prevention and Audit teams.
- Manage all Return-to-Vendor (RTV) processes, RTW and Store to Store Transfers, ensuring accurate documentation, reconciliation, and tracking of all outbound stock movements.
- Oversee and optimise all client dispatch and shipment operations, ensuring all items, packaging, and documentation consistently meet Selfridges and brand partner standards while driving continuous improvement in speed, accuracy, and service quality and minimising discrepancies.
- Ensure full compliance with Dangerous Goods (DG) regulations, implementing robust procedures for DG checks on items prior to dispatch and providing guidance and training to the team on regulatory requirements.
- Lead and enforce all compliance, health, and safety standards, ensuring that all work areas and operational zones are consistently maintained to company requirements.
- Oversee and strengthen processes relating to Faulty, Sold as Seen, Refund Reconciliation, Dump SKUs, Repairs, Alterations and Dry Cleaning implementing controls to minimise stock loss, reduce write-offs, and improve overall inventory integrity.
- Manage and lead your team giving regular feedback and coaching. Recognising both talent and development areas, create unique plans to progress your team using the tools available
ABOUT YOU
- Proven experience in stock management and operations within a luxury retail or high-volume, service-led environment.
- Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex stock processes and high operational demands with precision.
- Strong leadership capability, demonstrating the ability to coach, motivate, and develop a team to deliver consistent operational excellence.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, compliance, and maintaining world-class operational standards.
- Process-driven mindset, with the ability to identify gaps, implement improvements, and ensure robust operational controls across all back-of-house functions.
- Knowledge of stock handling systems, including transfers, RTV, audits, replenishment, and documentation requirements.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to partner effectively with Personal Shopping, ISF, Loss Prevention, Audit, and brand teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, luxury environment, with a client focused approach, maintaining accuracy and efficiency under pressure.
