Stock Controller/Purchasing Assistant

Are you organised, detail-focused, and passionate about great food? Our client, a leading fine food distributor, is seeking a Stock Controller & Purchasing Assistant to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in stock management, purchasing, or supply chain who wants to play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of operations.

The Role:
  • Monitor and manage stock levels to ensure product availability and minimise waste
  • Support the purchasing team with supplier orders, price checks and product sourcing
  • Manage regular stock counts, reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating best value on pricing and terms
  • Liaise with warehouse and sales teams to ensure accurate and timely deliveries
  • Assist with new product introductions and seasonal range planning
  • Maintain accurate records on the internal stock and purchasing system
About You:
  • Previous experience in stock control, inventory management or purchasing (food industry experience desirable)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with good negotiation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and stock management/ERP systems
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for fine food and excellent customer service
