Responsibilities

  • Follow sterilisation/decontamination processes for surgical instruments.
  • Prepare sterile consumables by decontamination, inspection, assembly, and packing.
  • Check, wash, and pack theatre instruments to meet specifications.
  • Operate monitoring machines and equipment safely.
  • Record repairs and missing instruments in the tracking system.
  • Return repaired instruments to stock as needed.

About You

WORKING PATTERN

12 weeks training格:the first few weeks you will work on Monday-Friday at 9:00-17:00. Thereafter, training will continue during your regular shift hours which will be Tuesday‑Friday night shift 7:30pm‑5:00am (T,W,T,F) – 30 minutes break.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Following a highly regulated end‑to‑end sterilisation/decontamination process on surgical instruments that have been used in operations in local NHS and private hospitals, to ensure they can be used again safely for the next patient.
  • Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
  • Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
  • Safely operating and يزيد بت التشير monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers_nearing effectivuse.
  • Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
  • Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.

Access to a Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship! This is a 12‑15 month fully funded programme studying good scientific practice for the Healthcare profession!-digit’s credit. You are given 20% of your working hours to study towards the qualification. Further apprenticeships are available throughout the course of your career!
